Hunter Restorative Community Inc is a not-for-profit organisation whose vision is for the Hunter to be a safe and connected community that values all voices and where relationships are nurtured. We aim to inspire, listen to and collaborate with individuals, groups and organisations to grow restorative practice, education in restorative approaches and networking opportunities.

On the 11th November 2024 the Hunter Restorative Community Inc held its AGM. HRC acknowledges the commitment of the following board members who did not recontest, Kerrie Thompson, one of the founding members and Shirley Schulz-Robinson. Ewa Korczynski, former board treasurer, stood down during the year for family reasons.
A diverse group of members from Newcastle Law School and the community recently collaborated in strategic planning for the community, shaping the mission, vision, values, name, strategic action areas and legal entity which will become the Hunter Restorative Community.
The first meeting to establish the new community Association, which will retain a collaborative relationship with its roots in the Law School, [was] held on the 28 th of April 2021 at The Base, 3 Tudor St, Newcastle West.

Abstract: There is growing evidence that the experiences of restorative cities around the world, such as Hull UK, Oakland US and Whanganui New Zealand, have been positive for their citizenry. In implementing interdisciplinary restorative practices and restorative justice measures across a range of systems including education, justice, child welfare and health, restorative cities have achieved transformational change in the culture and social fabric of their communities.
